Colin says: “A Currant Clearwing, caught in my moth trap in Yetminster on the night of 14/06/2017. Never seen one before and i have not heard of one coming to a moth trap before. A glorious sight!”

This moth is listed as “nationally scarce” and locally as “very scarce and restricted resident”, so Colin did very well to see it. Their caterpillars feed on blackcurrants and (less) redcurrants, spending the winter within the stem of the plant and the adult moth flies by day, so keep your eyes open near your fruit bushes.
