This lovely spell of sunshine is bringing out the butterflies: 2,070 butterflies of 19 species have been reported so far this year. Continue reading
Mark found both these eggs on Fontmell Down on 05/08/2017, an interesting photo showing the difference between the two. Both eggs will hatch into caterpillars (if not predated) and they will stay as caterpillars all through the winter.

Dave says: “Season starting to wind down now for the Marsh Frits with just a few seen, although this girl seemed quite fresh and egg laden. Also next year’s generation is on the way with this egg batch on the devils bit scabious”.
