Access

The approach is from the car park on the Child Okeford road that links the A350 and the A357. It is a steep climb from this entrance. There is another approach which goes up by a bridle path from the north end of Manor Rd, Stourpaine. This is a longer but more gentle walk.

About the site

Hod Hill is a large hill fort in the Blackmore Vale, 3 miles north-west of Blandford Forum. The fort sits on a 143 m chalk hill of the same name that lies between the adjacent Dorset Downs and Cranborne Chase. There are fine views from the top.

31 species of butterfly have been seen here. A good site for orchids.
