Donald has sent in these two photos of Wall butterflies he took on 21/09/2020 telling us:

Last weekend and with such wonderful warm weather we went walking the paths around Langton and Acton looking for birds. To our surprise we kept on seeing what I can only describe as a small fritillary. At the time I had no phone signal to try to connect to the BC web site for an identification.

After an hour or so of seeing 3 or 4 of these wonderful butterflies on and around every wall, it suddenly dawned on me that it must be the Wall brown. I have only ever seen one before and that was on a coastal path near Tyneham. Some of the Wall’s we saw sunbathing on the dry-stone walls were in very good condition whilst others looked a little faded.

We were so thrilled to see so many, maybe 20 plus, that we stopped and sat and had a cup of tea whilst watching their antics flying around chasing others and then landing for a rest with their wings wide open but only for a few seconds when they either partially folded or completely folded them.

By the way we did see some wonderful birds as well.
