Went to Martin Down yesterday and as I saw clouds of Chalkhill Blues there thought I would try Badbury early this morning, 12/07/2025 and eventually found a solitary one on its overnight roost.

Two more photos of Chalkhill Blues taken by Mark at Badbury Rings on 04/08/2024.  Mark also commented that the female in the second photo showing the back/underside of the wings is a  darker brown than usual.

Two photos sent in by Mark telling us:

Spent a few hours at Badbury Rings this morning, 04/08/2024 and despite the overcast conditions Chalk Hill Blues were in abundance, but not a great deal else except for a handful of fresh Common Blues which were very welcome.

Editor’s Note:  It took a considerable amount of research by Mark to enable him to identify this aberrant female Chalkhill Blue for which we thank him.
