An update from Martin after a visit to Portland on 11/05/2026 where he found several Lulworth Skipper larvae on Wood False-brome Brachypodium sylvaticum instead of on the usual Tor Grass B. pinnatum.

He had found them using sylvaticum (Wood False-brome) several years ago and reared them through to be sure and he thinks this may possibly be the first recorded use of it in the UK.
He also mentioned that they use sylvaticum abroad and that it may allow the species to spread inland if climate warming continues as it is a widespread grass.
