Brian sent in this photo telling us:

During our Durlston East transect last Friday, 08/05/2026, we were seeing several Dingy Skippers along the edge of one of the meadows, then this butterfly disappeared down into the grass and we assumed it was just another Dingy. But I took a closer look and was surprised to see that it was a Green Hairstreak – the first we have counted this year on the transect. Although the wings were not at all tattered, the green scales were very worn indeed showing the dark brown wings beneath the scales.
