Two photos from Brian sent in telling us:

Today, 11/07/2023 I saw our first Wall Brown this year in our garden at Harman’s Cross. This brings our garden species count for 2023 to 22. It was landing on a small terrace by our conservatory, and on the stone walls – “Wall on a Wall”.

We have several patches of bamboo, and a spread of them by our lawn seems to attract several species of butterfy to sit – nothing to nectar on of course. It seems to be a favourite for Ringlets and Gatekeepers, but today this Silver-washed Fritillary landed for a photo – a nice contrast between the butterfly and the bamboo leaves.
