After saying a couple of weeks ago that we get few butterflies in the garden, just some stopping at next doors’ overhanging buddleia…. all I’m going to say is Hoorah for the overhanging buddleia!! Over the last few days we’ve had a pretty much constant stream of pristine Red Admirals and Peacocks, interspersed with a few Whites, and then today Painted Ladies, a Gatekeeper and a couple of tatty Small Tortoiseshells. The highlight, and by far the biggest surprise, was a brief visit from a Silver Washed Fritillary (valezina), and as last year, repeated visits from a Hummingbird Hawk Moth.

Long may the buddleia flower and overhang!
