Painted Lady. Photo: Edmund Mackrill

Edmund has just sent us this photo with the following comments:

This Painted Lady, in “as new” condition, just would not settle with open wings. But as they have such beautifully patterned underwings I am more than happy to settle for this photo. Taken in Weymouth this morning, 23/04/2021.

I have a good friend who lives in southern Spain and he tells me that there are large numbers of Painted Lady’s down there at the moment- fingers crossed for a good year in the UK.
