Essex Skipper. Photo: Edmund Mackrill

Another striking photo from last summer taken on 20/06/2020 by Edmund showing one of several Essex Skippers he found close to his house in central Weymouth.

He told us that they were inhabiting a tiny patch of uncut grass full of the right sort of grasses and that they were always down in the long grass and nectaring on Potentilla.  He didn’t think they have been recorded here previously.
