Orange brown moths mating

Oak Eggars mating. Photo: Derek Fowler

0n 3/08/20 Derek tells us:

I was very pleased to be invited to a moth release on Sunday 12 miles from home where the highlight, to me, was an Oak Eggar which I’d never seen before (being something of a ‘beginner’).   It looked like a possible night so last evening I put my own trap up again.

To my amazement this morning there was another Oak Eggar – then, to cap it all, by mid afternoon a male had turned up (the photo speaks for itself)!

Why ever did I wait all these years to get a moth trap!?
