Black and red caterpillar with four yellow tufts on its back

Ann sent us this photo on 11/06/20 tells us this is a female Vapourer moth  caterpillar . She has reared them in the past and notes the females are always bigger than males. She found eggs a few weeks ago in her garden at Corfe Mullen.

They caterpillars are found between May to early September, their foodplants being most native broadleaved trees and shrubs.
