Clifden Nonpareil is a large immigrant moth which is the envy of moth enthusiasts. This one was attracted to Paul’s garden in Upwey ,Weymouth on 26/08/19 .

Paul says:

Having coffee in the garden and my wife said ‘there’s a big moth on the wall’. Jeez! First Clifden Nonpareil of the year!

Paul thinks this is the earliest sighting he has ever had, they are usually seen in September and he is quite sure this species is now resident.

Thank you Paul for allowing me to use some of your moth photos posted on Twitter for this gallery.
