The Big Butterfly Count is here!


The annual Big Butterfly Count started on 19 July and runs to 11 August. Help us to record as many butterflies as possible during this period: the full details on how to do it are at

It only takes 15 minutes (though you can do it more than once in different places) and gives Butterfly Conservation nationally a fantastic idea of what butterflies are being seen.

You don’t have to be a butterfly expert to do it – a sheet is provided with all the butterflies you are likely to see which you can print off. You can also look on this website at the species likely to be seen in Dorset, with detailed notes on how to tell them apart.
