Brian sent us this special Grayling photograph on 23/07/19. Read why below.
The Grayling butterfly is normally a master of disguise blending into the background so well that it is often difficult to see. However for the first time ever we had one in our garden this morning at Harman’s Cross – I think it is probably a female. It flew around our garden for about 30 minutes, landing frequently on some marjoram in the lawn, where it was anything but hidden from view. What a lovely surprise!
This sighting shows the need for more people to record their garden butterfly sightings to dorsetbutterflies.com.
Superb picture, lovely butterfly!
