We are delighted that, at the eleventh hour, we have a volunteer to run the results meeting at Wimborne: huge thanks to Stephen Brown for stepping forward. We do, however need help from those who undertake the butterfly monitoring walks in the eastto help us learn about the local results for 2018. If you are a transect walker or a walk organiser at the sites listed below, could you give some feedback to the meeting to tell those attending how the butterflies did on your walk last year? The meetings will start with a presentation on how butterflies fared across Dorset in 2018, then after a break will look at more local results (as long as local walkers come forward to share their knowledge).

The Wimborne meeting covers the transect walks at: Avon Heath, Badbury Rings, Garston Wood, Hengistbury Head, Kinson Common, Moors Valley, Mude Valley, Pamphill Moor, Redhill, Sopley Common, Sovell Down, Stanpit, Stour Valley, Upton Heath, West Moors and Wimborne St. Giles.

The meeting is one of a series of four regional meetings to examine the butterfly results of 2018. The meeting in Wimborne covers the East of the county, while the West is covered at the Toller Pocorum meeting on 16 Feb, the South in Wareham on 7 March and the North in East Stour on 28 March. All are welcome to join us, and there will be a chance to sign up to help with the butterfly monitoring (transect) walks which supply us with a lot of the data that allows this feedback to happen every year and which is essential to underpin our efforts to help butterflies in Dorset.
