This Wall Brown was photographed by Penny on Portland on 23/09/17.

This is a stunning butterfly and can be found in hot weather between early April -October in three broods. Whilst it can be found a variety of habitats throughout the UK, in Scotland it is only found in the South West where it is extremely rare.

When resting on walls or rocky places with wings closed, its under-wing pattern affords it brilliant camouflage.
