view of a half opened Peacock feeding on Ivy

Peacock. Photo. Penny Hawes

Penny took this photograph on 23/09/17 on Portland and tells us:

Stunningly beautiful day on Portland yesterday, and the place was teeming with butterflies. Literally hundreds of huge Red Admirals everywhere. I started at Perryfields and Church Ope, and still found little Blues and a Clouded Yellow. Later walked from Sweethill to the Bill. Saw a few Wall Browns along the path, then came to a long ivy hedge totally covered with Red Admirals, Peacocks, Painted Ladies and Speckled Woods

What a great day Penny had, making lovely memories of her butterfly walk on Portland to look back on during the dark days of Winter.
