Brimstone moth spotted!

The Brimstone moth is not supposed to be on the wing until April.However, Bob Groves spotted one in a puddle of rain on 16 January in Christchurch. Being a kind-to-moths sort of person, he rescued it, but what it was doing out this early is anybody’s guess.

This is a photo of the moth in its full glory. Bob did say his was a lot more yellow than his photo made it appear.
