Transect Walks Transects are routes that have been set up to monitor butterflies in important areas. They are walked regularly by volunteers following strict guidelines. For more information about Transects, click here for an overview of what they are and how it is done, or click here for a more comprehensive history and detail. The current list of Transects are in the grid below and a map showing general distribution is available here. Some of the walks, marked *, contain expanded walk descriptions from the forthcoming book "Butterfly Walks in Dorset", but the basic routes are still those followed by the transect walkers. If you are interested in becoming involved with a Transect near you, please e-mail Bill Shreeves. For an analysis of the results in 2000, please click here.
